Deserved rant. She is the weakest link in that group and I think the show could do itself well by finding a new judge.

It made me wonder if the songs are lipsynched or done live when she judged both.

I’ve heard that the judges watch tapes of the rehearsals that are held before the live performances. By doing this, they can already have their responses mostly ready and Simon can decide if the performance sounded karaoke, dorm room, cruise ship, or cabaret. It’s likely that Paula had watched the video and accidentally exposed their little secret.

Also, the clips you see at the end of the performance show are actually clips from the rehearsal held earlier. There’s no time for them to compile all of those clips from the live show and replay them at the end.
