Tom-
Thanks for your input. I too was discouraged when I learned of Bhutto's less that stellar track record. Kind of made me wonder about how many pairs of shoes she had in her closet?

I closed the link at the bottom, BTW, so that you can now read the quote from Baer.

You're going to have to stop these thought producing posts on Friday... I'm trying to do other stuff but I keep coming back to some of the points about America's future owners.

I agree about former PM Bhutto's death pointing to a problem in our foreign policy, but there's been such a rush to canonize her when she was as corrupt in her previous 2 roles as Musharaff is now.

To be the devil's advocate (not necessarily my own view), being the world's police man happens because a fight between my neighbors might just spill into my yard.

But we never police those who ultimately need policing. We left Afghanistan at the same time as the Russians did and left such a vaccuum that the Taliban/Islamic Terrorists were allowed to flourish... like you said they had no oil. We prop up corrupt dictatorships and then wonder why people revolt.

You've made me think and depressed me... a two-fer... :)
